So I'm reading about the East-West Schism in Christianity. I realize I know so little about religions other than mine - it's all very interesting; especially the distinction between Theoria and Scholasticism. I would have to lean towards the Catholic ideal, though - I don't think it should be necessary to actually witness God to understand His work. This could come from my bias towards Thomas Aquinas.

The first two tracks are really catchy, but the real gem of the album is "Fuck You." I dare you to listen to that song without smiling.

Laurel threw a bunch of albums at me the other day. Beirut is a band I've never gotten around to taking seriously, but Condon's voice is amazing and the tunes are fun as hell.

Speaking of foreign language, four years of Spanish and I feel like it's wasted knowledge the way I have to use it. I'm learning German through Rosetta Stone, so soon I shall be quadrilingual! Or multi-lingual I guess. A cunning linguist nonetheless.

Between making coffee, staying out late, crashing with friends, wasting away on the internet, and occasionally doing my homework, I've had little time to actually get the important things done, like applying for a passport, writing some overdue thank-you notes, and getting a job.

I dropped off a resume at Ben and Jerry's, but I think I'm going to try somewhere else because they aren't replying.

It took the hardest slap in the face I've ever received to realize today just how low I've sunk. It's not what I've done that's been wrong. It's what I haven't done.

Every day, you do something, wittingly or otherwise, that hurts someone. Everyone does. However, if you spend your whole life in fear of the people you hurt, avoiding them at all costs, you hurt them even more by not giving them the dignity they deserve. Wounds caused by actions can be healed. Wounds caused by inactions can't.

Carlos, I convinced Andrea to break up with you. I'm not the only one who did, I was among many. I didn't like how you were treating her. I didn't trust you that you could "get better." I had enough of Andrea sadly telling us that she couldn't hang out but not being able to say why, or hearing about the things you said to her, or you threatening to break up with her just so you could hear her beg for you to stay. Andrea was my best friend over the summer - and yes, over the summer friends was all - and I couldn't stand to see her like that. You were my mentor, but I hope I never learn how to treat girls from you.

She has told me that if not for me, she probably wouldn't have broken up with you, mostly out of irrational fears, so I guess you can blame me for that. As for dating her so soon after the breakup, well, I'm more upset at myself, but only because I didn't wait longer after having broken up with Melissa. The only regret I had was pretending to be friends with you and lying to you about that. I'm sorry. I'm happy with her now. I hope you can understand.

Your friends are incredible people. Even after you involved many of them, especially one of them, in your struggle for Andrea, they still love you. I hope you understand how much more important they are than any girl.

Realize that as much as you probably hate me, I hate myself just as much right now.

Before Israel, Palestinians were the laughing stock of the Arab world. Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia all could care less about it. Israel came back, cleaned it up, and now the only reason why these countries are standing beside Palestine is because they want it to fight a proxy war for them. Will they send them guns? Yes. But if Israel is gone, does anyone honestly think they'll send aid, or food, or anything? No, because once Israel is gone they won't have a need for a nation like Palestine with practically no exports and specialization.

Now, I know that not all of Anti-Zionism comes from Islamic people, but a great deal of it does. I don't think that Islam is any more racist than Christianity, and heck, even Judaism. I do think that Anti-Semitism, Holocaust Denial, and Anti-Zionism are all narrow-minded opinions made by narrow-minded people.

Do the same Muslims who constantly rally for Israel to be removed from the map realize that Serbs, who declare themselves Orthodox Christians, displaced more than 2,000,000 Bosnians and Croats, killing an estimated 200,000 of them, and raping or otherwise torturing tens of thousands of them?

Bosnians are overwhelmingly Muslim. Their land was taken from them by the Serbs. They were slaughtered. I don't hear Muslims protesting for the conflict to be called a Genocide or for the destruction of the Serbian nation. Do you know why? Because they don't really care about innocent Muslims being killed or displaced, or having their nation occupied and taken over. It's just blatant Anti-Semitism, old hatreds, and general narrow-mindedness.

Atlanta - The Wedding Sunday September 30 | 12:03 am

It's been said that, from the outside, one cannot tell the difference from a Jewish wedding and a Jewish funeral. I've been to both, and I'm not sure I can comment on this, but I can tell you that the ceremony itself was rather short. It was a small wedding, and the reception was outdoors. I met a kid my brother's age, he and Ben hung out for a little, and later I saw that kid totally trashed.

I didn't get much of a chance to speak to my cousin Dana, but I hope to tomorrow at the brunch, and then there's the long drive home.

Oh, and a drunk old German told me to shave my beard. =[

I left on Friday for my belov'd cousin Dana's wedding in Atlanta. (Thank God she didn't decide to have it in Israel like originally planned)

Getting to Hotlanta (edit) on my lonesome included an agonizing drive to the international airport in Orlando (I hate Orlando traffic, but at least I didn't have to drive off of the highway.) Once at the airport, I had to rush to the terminal to try and get an earlier flight. I ended up giving up my BEAUTIFUL 18A aisle seat departing at 8:40 for literally the worst seat on the plane departing at 7:20. I'm talking cramped into the very back corner, no windows, no movable seat back, no chance of going to the bathroom, Final Destination.

Once at the airport, my dad called to inform me that I was taking MARTA to the stop nearest my aunt's home. (If you didn't know, MARTA stands for Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta) The ride on MARTA, I kid you not, took as long as the flight to Atlanta. So, after a cars, trains, and aeroplanes, I had finally made it to my aunt's for a free Hebrew lesson -_-

Between making coffee, staying out late, crashing with friends, wasting away on the internet, and occasionally doing my homework, I've had little time to actually get the important things done, like applying for a passport, writing some overdue thank-you notes, and getting a job. I dropped off a resume at Ben and Jerry's, but I think I'm going to try somewhere else because they aren't replying. 'tis a tired nate

It took the hardest slap in the face I've ever received to realize today just how low I've sunk. It's not what I've done that's been wrong. It's what I haven't done. Every day, you do something, wittingly or otherwise, that hurts someone. Everyone does. However, if you spend your whole life in fear of the people you hurt, avoiding them at all costs, you hurt them even more by not giving them the dignity they deserve. Wounds caused by actions can be healed. Wounds caused by inactions can't. Carlos, I convinced Andrea to break up with you. I'm not the only one who did, I was among many. I didn't like how you were treating her. I didn't trust you that you could "get better." I had enough of Andrea sadly telling us that she couldn't hang out but not being able to say why, or hearing about the things you said to her, or you threatening to break up with her just so you could hear her beg for you to stay. Andrea was my best friend over the summer - and yes, over the summer friends was all - and I couldn't stand to see her like that. You were my mentor, but I hope I never learn how to treat girls from you. She has told me that if not for me, she probably wouldn't have broken up with you, mostly out of irrational fears, so I guess you can blame me for that. As for dating her so soon after the breakup, well, I'm more upset at myself, but only because I didn't wait longer after having broken up with Melissa. The only regret I had was pretending to be friends with you and lying to you about that. I'm sorry. I'm happy with her now. I hope you can understand. Your friends are incredible people. Even after you involved many of them, especially one of them, in your struggle for Andrea, they still love you. I hope you understand how much more important they are than any girl. Realize that as much as you probably hate me, I hate myself just as much right now.

Before Israel, Palestinians were the laughing stock of the Arab world. Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia all could care less about it. Israel came back, cleaned it up, and now the only reason why these countries are standing beside Palestine is because they want it to fight a proxy war for them. Will they send them guns? Yes. But if Israel is gone, does anyone honestly think they'll send aid, or food, or anything? No, because once Israel is gone they won't have a need for a nation like Palestine with practically no exports and specialization. Now, I know that not all of Anti-Zionism comes from Islamic people, but a great deal of it does. I don't think that Islam is any more racist than Christianity, and heck, even Judaism. I do think that Anti-Semitism, Holocaust Denial, and Anti-Zionism are all narrow-minded opinions made by narrow-minded people. Do the same Muslims who constantly rally for Israel to be removed from the map realize that Serbs, who declare themselves Orthodox Christians, displaced more than 2,000,000 Bosnians and Croats, killing an estimated 200,000 of them, and raping or otherwise torturing tens of thousands of them? Bosnians are overwhelmingly Muslim. Their land was taken from them by the Serbs. They were slaughtered. I don't hear Muslims protesting for the conflict to be called a Genocide or for the destruction of the Serbian nation. Do you know why? Because they don't really care about innocent Muslims being killed or displaced, or having their nation occupied and taken over. It's just blatant Anti-Semitism, old hatreds, and general narrow-mindedness.

Atlanta - The Wedding	Sunday September 30 \| 12:03 am
It's been said that, from the outside, one cannot tell the difference from a Jewish wedding and a Jewish funeral. I've been to both, and I'm not sure I can comment on this, but I can tell you that the ceremony itself was rather short. It was a small wedding, and the reception was outdoors. I met a kid my brother's age, he and Ben hung out for a little, and later I saw that kid totally trashed. I didn't get much of a chance to speak to my cousin Dana, but I hope to tomorrow at the brunch, and then there's the long drive home. Oh, and a drunk old German told me to shave my beard. =[ UF lost? =/'s all around.
